In this area of the website you will find the poems which have been submitted. Feel free to browse, all of the poems have been written by health professionals. One of the underpinning aims of ‘Caring Words’ is to develop an online poetry community, so that you have the opportunity to contribute your own work, and at the same time, share the work of others.

You might find a poem that you can relate to, in terms of an experience you have had or an emotion you have felt. Caring for others can often evoke powerful emotions and it can be easy to feel isolated whilst those around us seem to be just getting on with life. Poetry writing gives us a different way to talk about how we feel and share our thoughts with others in similar situations.

You might read a poem which amuses you; something light hearted which makes you smile but which opens up the world of another person, and allows you in to take a look. Reading the poetry of others helps us to understand the diversity and uniqueness of the world in which we live, and helps us to see things from another perspective.

You will see that all of the poems are different and there is no specific style or format. You can write as much or as little as you like, it is all about the process of poetry writing, rather than the style or how ‘good’ you think it is. If it has meaning for you and you want to share it with others, then please submit it. If you prefer, you do not need to share your name with others, you can remain anonymous if you like.
